An eight-year-old boy was sexually assaulted while camping at Loch Ness Bay campsite in Drumnadrochit, Highlands, between 00:20 and 01:00 on 31 July 2025.
The boy’s father, camping in a nearby tent, saw the suspect—a white male, aged 30-50, about 5ft 10in, bald on top—leaving the child’s tent. He confronted the suspect who fled.
Police Scotland described the incident as “hugely traumatising” for the child, his family, and the community. The family were tourists, and it’s unclear if the suspect was staying at the campsite. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and seeking public information. A local councillor called the attack “totally shocking,” and said it had profoundly impacted the villagers.
